Coronavirus related payment holiday requests

Things you need to know

We know the worry and concern the wide impacts of the coronavirus epidemic is causing and that everything feels very uncertain at the moment. As a result, in line with current regulatory legislation, we are able to support our customers by allowing the deferment of mortgage payments for up to 3 months.

Be sure a payment holiday is right for you

If you take a mortgage payment holiday you won’t make mortgage payments for up to 3 months, however interest will still be charged during the payment holiday period. The payment holiday means that your payment is deferred to a later date. It’s important to remember that you will still owe the outstanding balance and that interest will continue to accrue whilst the deferred payments remain unpaid. There’s no fee for taking a mortgage payment holiday and it won’t have a negative effect on your credit score.

Statement of Self-Certification

I confirm that I understand:

  1. The “payment holiday” means the sum I would normally pay for my mortgage each month stops for an agreed temporary period of time but these sums remain due to be paid at the end of the “payment holiday” and interest will still be charged on the sums due.
  2. As a result of this, I or anyone else named on the mortgage is aware that the monthly payments will go up after the “payment holiday” has ended.
  3. My payment holiday request is because I believe that I may potentially experience payment difficulties in the current exceptional circumstances arising from Coronavirus (COVID-19).(If you do have existing financial difficulties, or your mortgage is currently in arrears, we have other ways we can help you. Please read our “Support with Financial Difficulties” guide and give our dedicated support a team a call on 0344 820155 to discuss how we can assist.)
  4. I or anyone else named on the mortgage is aware of the need to review any insurance policies which are calculated on the mortgage balance.
  5. I understand that once the agreed payment holiday ends, my contractual payment will be recalculated on the increased balance. I consent to Vida Homeloans increasing my monthly Direct Debit to collect the outstanding sums due over the remaining term of the mortgage which will mean that I will pay more interest for my mortgage over the term. If, after the end of the payment holiday, I would like to make the deferred payments over a shorter period, I will contact Vida Homeloans then to discuss.
